Day 27 - First prize in the DNA-Out of Print Short Fiction contest

Very pleased to share with you that my story The Awakening won the first prize in the DNA-Out of Print Short Fiction contest.

Here's what the editors have to say about my story: "The choice of winning story was ultimately influenced by the clean direct simplicity with which the protagonist approaches the complex choice he makes, and the deceptive lightness with which the story is told."

You can read it in the Just Before Monday section of DNA.  It is available online here - The Awakening  - or here.

Its awesome Shruthi...just awesome. After reading the story I just kept staring at the monitor as my mind was busy thinking "Did I just read an amazing story". How could you write such a complex matter in such a simple manner? You are a genius!! Hats off to you :)

Congrats Shruthi, you are a winner!
I have written for the DH short story contest twice but lost it on both occasions.
This one http://desiherald.wordpress.com/2013/08/08/a-tribute-to-my-annoying-aunt/
I had submitted this in 2013 contest and have another story in draft not sure where to submit it. Sorry I am pasting the link but wanted to get a feedback about my writing from somebody who is into hardcore writing.

Rashmi, wow, you made me really happy. Thank you!

Srividhya Manikandan, thank you :)

Desiherald, I'll read the whole thing at leisure. But I did read the first couple of paragraphs. One suggestion - read more. As much as you can. Also, check out the link I suggested in your last comment on one of my posts, and join the group. It will help.
